We have some fantastic nominees; unfortunately Kurt and I highlight this list. Not sure if that’s a good thing or what but regardless, get ready to laugh at our stupidity over the years.
p.s. Jarrett drafted Lonnie Chisenhall in the second to last round this year, who is probably going to be one of the most hilariously named players of all time when he retires.
Elmer Dessens- 2003 (Alex)- Was a paper boy when he was 10 years old
Eli Marrero- 2003 (TJ)- Had thyroid cancer, caught a no-hitter thrown by Bud Smith
Rocky Biddle- 2004 (Kurt)- His real name is Lee Francis Biddle
Jay Gibbons- 2004 (TJ)- Once hit a foul ball that struck his wife in the face
Chin-hui Tsao- 2005 (James)- Was found fixing games and was expelled by the Chinese Baseball League, was on a Chinese team named Brother Elephants, now runs a barbeque restaurant in Taiwan
Duaner Sanchaz- 2005 (Jarrett)- Is a Libra
Chris Duffy- 2007 (James)- Was once quoted saying, "Yes, I am a pure power hitter..homeruns and doubles and RBI’s….that is what will get me to the big leagues," and "My dream is one day they call it “the city of Duffy-love!” referring to Philadelphia of course
Boof Bonser- 2007 (Kurt)- Enjoys pounding Bud Lights as his beer of choice while watching his favorite movie of all time, the original King Kong
Tony Graffanino- 2010 (Kurt)- Made the first error at the new Yankee Stadium and is nicknamed "Trout"
Shelley Duncan- 2010 (James)- While on the Yankees, he once signed a notebook for a 10-year-old Red Sox fan and added "Red Sox Suck!" along with his signature
I would like to disqualify Tony Graffinino from this vote. I had an extra draft pick because I traded Richie for a draft pick of his and picked the Graffster for hilarity value only. This is unfair, as all the other options had high expectations from their owners
ReplyDeleteRegardless, you didn't plan on picking him in anticipation of winning a 10 year award so the pick still counts. Feel free to vote for t graffs all you want!
ReplyDeleteAnd yea, I did expect big things from Chris Duffy...
