Week 2 Awards

Manager of the week: TJ Geers
Hitter of the week: Matt Kemp
Pitcher of the week: Michael Pineda
Pickup of the week: Erik Bedard*
Team Name of the week: I smell Sexson candy

So I know what you are thinking; Erik Bedard?  Before you ask questions I would like to clear things up.  Sam Fuld has taken the baseball world by storm out of relative obscurity, but that is the easy pick.  Would it be the best pickup of the week?  Maybe.  Colin picked him up and he accounted for 1 RBI, 1 SB and Colin ended up going 0-5 in offensive categories.

But Kurt, that doesn't mean Erik Bedard did any better.

Thank you, I know.  Why was the former Ace the best pickup of the week?  Bedard has now suited up for three different Diamond Dynasty teams in 3 weeks.  He has accumulated stats for one team, posting an ERA well above 7 and a WHIP close to 3.  He has officially put himself on watch for the Jeff Suppan Award for player appearing on the most teams in one season.  I did not give him this award to reward his success, but to make the world aware of the history that could be witnessed if a late-week spot start is needed.

Now on to the real awards.

TJ comes off a dismal opening week to beat the top rated, and first place team.  After the cornerstone of his franchise accounted for 8 outs on opening day TJ saw a resurgent Albert Pujols mash his way to a big week for Team TJ. Matt Kemp loaded the stat sheet hitting over .500, scoring runs, driving in runs, putting the ball out of the park twice, and swiping 2 bags.  In a week where Adrian swept the offensive side of his matchup, Kemp was a key piece.

Michael Pineda rewarded James for his work in FanBoy 101: Take your favorite team's top prospect.  With 2 wins in 2 very strong showings for the post-draft waiver wire pickup Pineda is making James look very good right now.

I smell Sexson candy.  'nuff said
