Well folks the first week of the 2011 Diamond Dynasty season shook up the power rankings quite a bit. Drew took the baseball world by storm with a huge victory launching him into the top spot in our rankings to start the season. This is Drew’s all-time best start to a season, and it looks like he’s out to prove that pitching wins Fantasy Championships. Drew was unavailable for comment via text message, but was later reached. “Are you texting me, because i cant get those. (My) screen is broke.”
Drew is hoping that the strong start will silence the ever-present critics; “Despite mockery of my draft I still won 8-2 versus one of the better teams in the league… My first week went extremely well and I’m looking forward to having the chalice once again behind my superior pitching.”
Kurt started off the season strong with a 6-2-2 win over Alex, moving him into the second spot in the rankings. Jarrett outslugged the entire world, totaling 22 home runs in week 1, and rounds out the top 3.
Colin had a solid week on paper, but fell into a last place tie due to Drew’s absurd pitching performances. The defending champion, James, opens the regular season in the five slot after an incredible offensive performance that was dwarfed by Jarrett’s power numbers and some sub-par pitching performances.
Ben, despite opening the season 8-2, comes in at number 6 in our rankings. Admittedly, he took advantage of weaker competition. “Went well I guess,” said Ben. “But Richie had a bad week so it made me look better.” When asked to say something hilarious, he replied; “Cayenne pepper sauce.”
Adrian, Alex, TJ and Richie round out the power rankings with poor opening performances. Richie hopes to move out of the cellar in week 2 as he describes last place as “Cold.” When asked if last place was, in fact, cold Richie proposed a trade.
“If you don’t believe me trade me Tim (Lincecum), Evan (Longoria), Carlos (Gonzalez), and Joey (Votto), and come find out.” The trade was later declined.
